- This gene is a member of the Regulator of Complement Activation (RCA) gene cluster and encodes a protein with twenty short concensus repeat (SCR) domains. Mutations in this gene have been associated with hemolytic-uremic syndrome (HUS) and chronic hypocomplementemic nephropathy.
